Our Works

  • Launched in 2022 at the initiative of C.Lab, our first editorial line already allows us to offer a selection of “artbooks” in both digital and printed versions.

In 2025, we will expand our catalogue with the publication of novels and/or essays in epub format as well as in print versions.

  • This is our collection of illustrations available in a variety of printed formats.

From living room puzzles to bed duvets, t-shirts to wall clocks, as well as posters, prints, and canvases.

We showcase a selection of our best original works right here on our website, in partnership with the “Gelato” platform.

Meanwhile, our profile on the “RedBubble” platform features all our AI-derived designs based on our original illustrations.

  • Under the leadership of R. Mitchell, we are preparing video content that will soon be available on our Patreon page and on YouTube.

  • Since the third quarter of 2024, we have been developing our first video game line of “Interactive Visual Novels,” or “Choose Your Own Adventure” stories for the big screen.

Our Core Principles

    • As creatives, we prefer to retain legal control over our own creations and their potential profits, so we choose a self-management organizational model.

To ensure transparency—which, in turn, guarantees equality among members—every voice holds equal weight in decision-making (currently limited to executive decisions).

      1 member = 1 member

    • To achieve this, we first organize ourselves in a way that allows every contributing collaborator to have their say and ensures their input impacts both the general and specific direction of the entire collective.

      1 member = 1 vote

    • Additionally, we seek feedback from our supporters and customers (i.e., our audience) so that they, too, can influence various aspects of our work, much like collaborating artists.

      Ideally,
      1 patron = 1 vote

  • The collective is exclusively composed of creative artists. Each member respects, defends, and upholds the rights of every other member.

  • More collective income = More individual income

More shared promotion and communication = More solo “traction”

  • Guided by the principle that, unlike traditional publishing companies, we do not exploit the work or profits of collaborating artists/creatives, we believe in the creative and commercial potential of collaborative forms built on mutual trust.

    In other words:
"One for all. All for one."

Our Ways

    • We respect the rights of all our creative collaborators by legally recognizing their full ownership and exploitation rights over their respective creations.

Unlike traditional publishing entities, we refuse to exploit, steal, or hoard the benefits of our creative collaborators' rights.

At this stage of our development,
we still encourage our collaborators to proactively protect their copyrights through certified deposits with private organizations (for digital works) as well as by self-addressed mail (for printed works).

  • (See Blog article on the subject for more details)

    Short version:
“We believe that selling a mug with an original drawing of Mickey’s head doesn’t take food out of Disney Pixar’s mouth (quite the opposite, actually).
The point is that as many people as possible should be able to earn a living from their efforts.”

    Practical version:
“We aim, in a spirit of societal effort alongside organizations like the O.T.W. (“Organization for Transformative Works”),
to create original content based on copyrighted licenses,
    for monetization purposes,
as fair compensation for the work of the creatives involved.

Whether it’s for public satisfaction (fans) or to promote the benefits (advertising) of the legal rights holders of the relevant licenses, we commit to monetizing only productions of such high quality that these rights holders could or should have produced them themselves—if only they’d had the good idea.”

  • What matters to us :
“The emotional and intellectual impact of storytelling on our audience.”

Whether through so-called ‘original’ art or AI-assisted creations (as is the case in most other industries today), the important thing, as media creators, is to prioritize the high quality of our ‘messages’ and, as professionals, to adapt to contemporary technological advancements.

  • As of today, and for far (too) long— for reasons discussed elsewhere—
99% of artists, whether writers or graphic designers, independent or under contractual exploitation, cannot make a living from their sales alone.

Public support through crowdfunding is the only viable alternative to hope for a fairer distribution of profits towards the artists and creatives themselves.

  • “Vilains Canards Publications”
is a registered trademark (2022-2025) with the INPI and WIPO.

Legally, it is an intellectual and commercial property acting as a label for the publication of various media.

In practice, it serves as a legal banner for a legitimate gathering of artists aiming to establish a self-managed collective with a mutualistic purpose.
