In this day and age …
(In this day and age ...) Quite a good number of indie content creators owe their success
not to the quality of their work,
but 1st and foremost to the sheer number of their followers.
And it most often starts with friends and family who "like" and "share" so that their own friends and family can "like" and "share", while everyone having some friends and/or some family left, etc, etc …
Regardless of quality, it's about supporting loved ones *.
In the same way, a lot of unsuccessful creatives fail and eventually give up, not because their work sucks, but 1st and foremost because
selling the carpet is an entirely different skill than weaving the carpet.
If you have "creatives around you" trying to make a buck,
the least you can do is "like" and "share".
Cause no one really "knows" what's good or not anyway **
and cause every artist need to feed their cats.
Likewise, ("in this day and age")
if you have "people around you" sharing their stuff and
you neither "like" nor "share" their posts
for the simplistic and impractical reason you do not personally enjoy said stuff,
you are ... an @$$ ***...

* They are examples out there of friends and families actually creating fake profiles to cheer the numbers up (Of course, that also exists as paid work but we are here talking about how to best manifest our own voluntary support).
** In French, the saying goes that tastes and colors are (the only) things not to be discussed. Meaning that what one likes may differ from what someone else may likes. Also that liking something is a matter of feelings and not reason so that indeed, don't go believing anyone saying 'they' know what's good quality or not.
*** For how would you yourself, appreciate peeps cutting so many lil' bits off your paychecks ?
